Warriors' Barnes returns to contact drills, not expected to return by Christmas

Small forward Harrison Barnes has returned to contact drills for the Golden State Warriors, but he will not play Wednesday against the Utah Jazz, interim coach Luke Walton said Monday. It doesn't appear that he will be ready to return for the Christmas Day showdown with the Cleveland Cavaliers either.

Barnes has missed the last 10 games with a sprained left ankle. Brandon Rush has been capably filling in at the three in Barnes' place, with little to nitpick about a team that has gone 9-1 in his absence.

Barnes, set for restricted free agency next summer, was averaging 13.4 points and five rebounds a game on 50 percent shooting from the field and nearly 39 percent from deep.
