Klay Thompson: Bucks 'didn't shut us down; no one shuts us down'

Klay Thompson wasn't ready to concede defeat after the Golden State Warriors dropped their first game of the season to the Milwaukee Bucks.

After being held to a season-low 95 points on Saturday, Thompson refused to give credit to the Bucks' defense:

Thompson's point, aside from speaking while no doubt feeling the sting of the Warriors' first loss in 249 days, is that his team was facing some tremendously long odds on Saturday.

Not only were they down a starter in Harrison Barnes, but the Warriors were also playing on the second night of a back-to-back after landing on Saturday at 3:30 a.m. They played a double overtime game against the Boston Celtics on Friday, and the reigning champions were also trying to become the first team in NBA history to reel off a perfect seven-game road trip.

All that aside, for Thompson to not give the Bucks - who also played on the second night of a back-to-back - credit for their win is unfair of him.

Milwaukee played it perfectly all night. They stuck quick, long guards to body up and stick with Stephen Curry, and their bigs did a tremendous job of providing help. The Bucks were also the aggressors all game long, and dominated the paint.

Although the odds weren't in their favor, the bottom line is that Milwaukee won. And regardless of how it happened - tired legs be damned - they deserve all the credit in the world for doing what 17 other teams couldn't do so far this season.

Draymond Green took the high road.
