Chicago Bulls (26-19) at Los Angeles Clippers (31-16)
NBA Basketball: Sunday, January 31, 2016 at 3:30 pm (STAPLES Center)
The Los Angeles Clippers play host to the Chicago Bulls at the Staples Center on Sunday afternoon.
The Bulls will be gunning for their third win in four games after making light work of the Lakers in a 114-91 rout on Thursday. Jimmy Butler led the offense with 26 points and 10 assists, Pau Gasol added 21 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists while Derrick Rose chipped in with 16 points as the Bulls jumped all over the Lakers to build a double digit lead early before cruising in the second half. With the win, Chicago improves to 26-19 on the season and 10-10 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Clippers are also coming off a win over the Lakers, beating them by 105-93 last night at home for their third straight win. Chris Paul led the way with 27 points and seven assists and had plenty of support as the bench combined for 56 points led by 17 points from Austin Rivers as the Clippers did just enough to pull away from the Lakers in the fourth quarter to improve to 31-16 on the season and 16-7 at home.
In ATS trends, the Bulls are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games overall and 0-4 ATS in their last four games following a win, while the Clippers are 7-2 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a winning record and 12-5 ATS in their last 17 games overall.
Head to head, the Bulls are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings but the road team is 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings overall.
The Clippers have been on an absolute tear with Blake Griffin still on the sidelines, but the Bulls should be good enough to take advantage of the shorthanded Clippers and escape with the cover or even the win.

A Brief History of NBA Players Stupidly Punching Stuff
Best price NBA 2K 16 MT points only here: http://www.vbgamecoins.com/en/40--2k16-mt
This week Blake Griffin learned the hard way: When it's hand vs. face, the hand almost always loses. In every man’s life, there comes a time or two or eighty when you’re on Netflix, watching Donnie Yen pummel dudes into guacamole, and you clench your fists and look at ol’ Shock and Awe and think, “Aw yeah, I could totally do that.”
Clippers star Blake Griffin probably wasn’t trying any Wing Chun during his altercation with Clippers assistant equipment manager Matias Testi, but even though it was Blake doing the repeated punching, he didn’t exactly land the KO, either: “Testi was left with a severely swollen face and Griffin with a broken right hand, which is expected to keep him out for at least a month,” reported Deadspin. Wait, so who won that again?
Which brings us to our point. We think we’ve come up with some good guidelines for Blake and everyone else’s fisticuffs moving forward. Think of them as GQ’s official rules for punching dudes. And they’re pretty simple, too: 1. Don’t punch people. 2. If you’re going to punch people, don’t punch people in the face, because it’s extra dumb.
NBA players have a long history of jeopardizing their careers with face-based battery. Even a pacifist like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar kicked off the 1977 season by punching Kent Benson in the face; Kareem missed out on twenty games and his third consecutive MVP. In ’85, Larry Bird hurt his finger sucker-punching a man in a bar; he shot 46 percent in the playoffs, and the Celtics fell to the Lakers. (Not to mention: MJ, Kerr; Kobe, Samaki Walker.)
The Clippers, meanwhile, defeated the reigning-champion Spurs in the playoffs last year and looked to be at least third in the top-heavy Western Conference this season. Now experts are wondering which of the Clips’ big three is most expendable, and the trade rumors are a-swirlin’.
Look, it’s understandable why you would want to punch someone in the face. It’s the window to the soul, and sometimes you want to hit that stupid, smug soul right in its weaselly lips. Unfortunately, because the skull contains sensitive objects like your eyes and nose, it’s also built like a tank. In fact, research shows that hominid jaws and brows evolved to grow bigger and thicker as “protective buttressing,” crude bone armor against rival cavemen’s fists.
And professional people-punchers aren’t even exempt. Even though combat athletes all wear gloves (and even the four-ounce gloves UFC fighters wear make a big difference), there’s a name for the consequences of all those impacts: boxer’s fracture. See, to hit someone without fear of injury, you just have to make sure “the knuckles of the second and third metacarpal align linearly with the articulating radius, followed linearly by the humerus,” which is hard enough to understand when you’re reading it on Wikipedia, let alone when it’s 2 A.M. and someone’s telling you that DeAndre’s the real heart and soul of the team.
The military agrees as well. “Punches should only be executed to the soft tissue areas of an opponent,” says the U.S. Marine Corps’ Close Combat Manual. Whereas with the head and face, “the risk of self-injury is great unless Marines deliver strikes with a hard object such as a helmet, rifle butt, or boot heel.” Look forward to Matt Barnes showing up to game day with a flak helmet and the stock off a Beretta 690 later this year.
So really, there’s no reason to hit people, especially when you’re hitting your own hand harder. Besides, Blake: You’re Blake Griffin, man! Get revenge the American way and buy and sell his ass with your fabulous wealth and influence. Your metacarpals will thank you.
NBA Trade Rumours: Former all-stars on the move?
Best price NBA 2K 16 MT points only here: http://www.vbgamecoins.com/en/40--2k16-mt
The NBA’s Feb. 18 trade deadline is inching closer and the rumours are swirling. Here’s some of the latest buzz from around the league. Should Clippers move Griffin?
The Skinny: Zach Lowe raised a few eyebrows in a recent story on ESPN.com, citing sources that told him Doc Rivers would be most willing to part with Blake Griffin if he had to deal any of his three major pieces (the other two being Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan). Analysis: Griffin has dominated NBA headlines lately after getting into an altercation with a team staffer that resulted in a broken hand during the Clippers’ trip to Toronto. Griffin is Los Angeles’s best overall player and would net the largest return if a trade were to happen. Now in his sixth season, the first overall pick in the 2009 draft remains one of the game’s top talents, averaging 23.2 points, 8.7 rebounds and 5.0 assists on 51 per cent shooting.
Despite the recent drama, a trade involving the five-time all-star is extremely unlikely at the moment and would seem to be an overreaction for the ages. However, Rivers did tell Lowe before the season that a roster shakeup may be necessary if the Clippers were eliminated in the first or second round of the playoffs. If an overwhelming package of players and draft picks comes along, Los Angeles could pull the trigger. Don’t hold your breath on this one, though.
Hawks willing to part with Teague?
The Skinny: On an episode of The Vertical podcast, Adrian Wojnarowski and Chris Mannix of Yahoo! Sports reported the Atlanta Hawks are discussing moving point guard Jeff Teague. Numerous teams have allegedly expressed varying degrees of interest in the former all-star. Analysis: Dealing with a nagging ankle injury, Teague's numbers are down across the board in 2015-16 and he has become somewhat expendable for the Hawks due to the emergence of backup Dennis Schroder. Schroder is averaging nearly 11 points and five assists per game in just 21 minutes of action. When expanded to a per-36-minute level, the numbers exceed Teague's production. At just 22 years of age, Schroder appears to be the floor general of the future in Atlanta.
However, for a team looking to add an impact player at the trade deadline, it's hard to imagine landing a better asset than Teague. He's still very much in his prime at 27 years old and is just one year removed from an All-Star Game appearance. His salary is team-friendly as he's due to make just $8 million next season.
One of the teams that has reportedly made contact with the Hawks is the New York Knicks, who sit on the outside of the Eastern Conference playoff picture but remain in striking distance. Jose Calderon is having a solid year, but Teague could be the piece to push New York over the hump. However, putting together a package of the Hawks' liking may be tricky for the Knicks.

'NBA 2K16': New patch released to prepare for 'Road To The Finals 2K Pro-Am" tournament' New patch designed to prepare 'NBA 2K16' for upcoming 'Road To The Finals 2K Pro-Am' tournament
Best price NBA 2K 16 MT points only here: http://www.vbgamecoins.com/en/40--2k16-mt
A new patch has just been released for the PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Xbox One ports of "NBA 2K16."
The game's publisher indicated that the new patch is meant to prepare the game for the start of the upcoming "Road To The Finals 2K Pro-Am" tournament, Attack of the Fanboy reported.
In pursuit of that, the newly released patch is more focused on the bugs that are found in "NBA 2K16's" MyCOURT, MyPARK, and Pro-Am modes.
For now at least, it looks like the other gameplay modes of "NBA 2K16" will remain unaffected by the arrival of the latest patch.
As for what the new patch does specifically, one of its new features is the addition of Player of the Week and Player of the Month listings to the MyPARK leaderboards.
The new patch is also addressing a few bugs, including one that previously allowed players to wear mascot outfits even though they were not qualified to do so just yet.
The latest "NBA 2K16" patch also fixes a bug that once led to players erroneously producing ankle breaker reactions. Additionally, the "NBA 2K16's" newest patch is introducing a variety of tweaks that should improve the overall performance of specific game modes such as MyCOURT.
Aside from the patch, the game's developers have also unveiled a new roster update that is making significant changes to some of the players inside "NBA 2K16," Design and Trend reported.
One player who has been significantly affected by the latest roster update is the Miami Heat's Hassan Whiteside. Thanks to the latest update, Whiteside now sports a 100 block rating inside "NBA 2K16" that should help him swat shots with greater regularity.
On the flipside, Kevin Love of the Cleveland Cavaliers was adversely affected by the newest "NBA 2K16" roster update as his rating has been decreased.
Spurs' Gregg Popovich to coach West in NBA All-Star Game
Best price NBA 2K 16 MT points only here: http://www.vbgamecoins.com/en/40--2k16-mt
SAN ANTONIO -- Spurs coach Gregg Popovich called it "pretty humbling" to be named as coach of the West All-Stars on Wednesday, despite the Warriorsholding the conference's top record.
Popovich will coach the West team for the fourth time in his career because Warriors coach Steve Kerr is ineligible to lead the team because he coached it last year.
"Well, everybody looks forward to the All-Star break for a variety of reasons," Popovich said. "But in my case, it's a pretty awesome feeling to know that you're going to be in the locker room with some of the best athletes in the world, and it's pretty humbling. So it's kind of cool."
Luke Walton coached the Warriors on an interim basis for the majority of the season before Kerr returned last week from back surgery. Because Walton served as the interim coach, his victories actually went to Kerr, who because of league rules won't be allowed to coach in two consecutive All-Star games.
The NBA had said it would review its policy to determine whether Walton would be eligible to coach the West team, before tabbing Popovich as the coach Wednesday for the Feb. 14 game in Toronto. "Would've, should've, would've," Popovich said when asked whether Walton should have been named the West's coach. "I don't do should've-would've."
Tyronn Lue, who replaced the fired David Blatt as the Cleveland Cavaliers' coach last week, will lead the East team.

New Latvian Rap Video About Kristaps Porzingis
Best price NBA 2K 16 MT points only here: http://www.vbgamecoins.com/en/40--2k16-mt
I had no idea I was such a fan of Latvian rap music Latvian rap song that honored Knicks star Kristaps Porzingis. It was a banger. Well, it turns out Transleiteris aren't the only Latvian rappers obsessed with the Zinger. Nope. It turns out a second group called Olas also wants their love to be known. And that love comes in the form of a new song called "Keep Calm Like Kristaps Porzingis." Because why not?
My worry with all this attention is that it will destroy the chemistry the Knicks are building. After all, one gets the sense that Carmelo doesn't love how much love KP gets. It's not that Melo unfairly wants the attention, it's just that Melo is a legitimate superstar and Porzingis is being talked about as though he already is one, too, even though he still has a way to go. But thankfully, I'm not the only one worried about this, because the boys from Olas were ready for that as well. And they put it so beautifully when they said, "Carmelo Anthony, shout out." See, Melo? People still love you, too.
Anyway, Olas wants you to vote for Kristaps to go to the All-Star game. He's not going to make it, but you should vote for him anyway, because they went out of their way to make a whole rap song about it. I mean, they got Lamborghinis and everything. That's a lot of work. The least you can do is tweet.

DeMarcus Cousins for skills challenge !!!

DeMarcus Cousins, other bigs to compete in All-Star skills challenge
The skills challenge at All-Star weekend will look a lot different this year. In Toronto, it won't just be little guards running around the circuit. Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousinsconfirmed on Thursday that he will take part in the event, via the Sacramento Bee's Jason Jones.
Cousins said he had to "represent for the bigs," but he's not the only one doing this.According to ESPN's Marc Stein, Cousins will be joined by Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Davis and Draymond Green. That is a heck of a list. There is no word yet if the big-man skills challenge will have different rules. Putting them up against guys like Isaiah Thomas and John Wall would seem a little weird.
This seems like a nice way to inject new life into the competition. There was also a bit of time to kill on All-Star Saturday now that the shooting stars competition has been put to rest, so it makes sense.

3 defining moments in Kobe Bryant's career
Best price NBA 2K16 MT coins only here: http://www.vbgamecoins.com/en/2k16-pc/219-nba-2k16-pc-200000-mt-points.html
There isn't much left for Kobe Bryant to conquer in the NBA.
A 20-year veteran, Bryant has won all there is to win in the league, and at the end of the 2015-16 season he'll step away from the court knowing he ranks in the upper echelon of the NBA's all-time greats.
Here are three moments that have defined Bryant's illustrious career:
Cementing the Lakers' dynasty
Phil Jackson, Shaquille O'Neal, Derek Fisher, and of course, Bryant: Four names that played critical roles in establishing the Lakers' dynasty at the turn of the millennium when the club captured three consecutive championships.
Though the numbers may say O'Neal led those teams statistically, Bryant proved just as tough a task for opponents to handle. In the 2002 NBA Finals, a 23-year-old Bryant posted a staggering 26.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.5 steals to help the Lakers sweep the New Jersey Nets in four games, and earn their third consecutive title.
Dropping 81 on the Raptors
Don't look so shocked.
While former NBA great Wilt Chamberlain's 100-point game is a number that's all but untouchable, Bryant's 81-point blast on a virtually helpless Toronto Raptors squad on Jan. 22, 2006 may have arguably been more impressive.
The legitimacy of Chamberlain's performance has been questioned on occasion in regards to the true talent level of the team he faced that night. Bryant dropped only 19 fewer points than Wilt against a Raptors team that wasn't one of the NBA's best squads, but was a capable NBA team nonetheless.
He was guarded predominantly by Jalen Rose and Morris Peterson, two decent players who carved out respectable careers in the league. On that night, however, nobody could stop Bryant, who shot 28-of-46 from the field, 7-of-13 from beyond the arc, and 18-of-20 from the free-throw line. Ridiculous.
Who needs Shaq?
As his career progressed, Bryant earned scoring titles, All-Star honors, MVP awards, and a myriad of other individual accolades. But the critics and doubters grew louder anytime he and his Lakers were bounced early from the playoffs: "Can he do it without Shaq?"
It took him seven years without The Big Aristotle, but five games against the Orlando Magic in 2009 silenced his critics once and for all. Bryant averaged 32.4 points, 7.4 assists, 5.6 rebounds, 1.4 steals, and 1.4 blocks over the 2009 Finals against the Magic to earn his fourth Larry O'Brien trophy, and most importantly, his first ring without O'Neal.
To further quiet his critics, he won another ring the following year, raising his total title count to five, and all but confirming his eventual place in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Shandong center Wu Ke had to scamper the length of the court Wednesday after stupidly deciding to elbow former Detroit Pistons center Jason Maxiell.
With Maxiell boxing out for the defensive rebound, Wu used the guise of crashing the glass to deliver a flying elbow to the back of his head.
Maxiell promptly threw a giant right hook back at Wu, but, thankfully, the punch missed, which gave Wu the opportunity to escape his wrath.
You know things were out of control when Michael Beasley had to step in as the voice of reason.

Imagine Steph Curry back in Babe Ruth's day. No nightly highlights, no YouTube videos, no real-time Twitter clips and Vine cuts. No instant gratification, no HD-sensory overload of a repertoire that becomes more mind-blowing, more you-have-to-see-it-to-believe-it each time the NBA's home run king steps onto the court.
Imagine your only portal into these nightly exploits was paragraphs in the next day's paper.
Thank goodness we have evolved. Words alone simply don't work when it comes to Curry.
After all, who would have believed what happened Monday night in Oakland if we couldn't see it for ourselves? Curry dazzled with a mesmerizing showcase of basketball wizardry against the Warriors' closest competitor, the San Antonio Spurs. Arguably the most dangerous 185-pound player the league has ever seen put the league's best defense on spin cycle with 37 points in 28 minutes in the 120-90 mauling.
Curry didn't play a second in the fourth quarter -- again. It was the 14th time in the 43 games he's played that he sat out the whole thing. So many blowouts, so many points left on the bench.
Still, the league's reigning MVP is leading the scoring race by almost three points over Houston's James Harden. Curry is averaging 30.3 points a game, and he's doing it while playing only 33.8 minutes. And that leads us to this little nugget:
Let's put that stat in these terms: It takes Curry three quarters to score more points than 99 percent of the league's players score in four. In some places, that might be called unstoppable.
Imagine if the Warriors played closer games. Curry averages 8.0 points in just 6.6 minutes played per fourth quarter -- and remember he's played in only 29 of 43 of them. For comparison's sake, Harden averages 6.9 points in 8.6 minutes per fourth quarter and he's played in 44 fourth quarters. LeBron James has played in 35 of 42 fourth quarters and averages 8.0 points in 9.1 minutes.
Oh, the points Curry could have.
And then there's how Curry is accumulating his mountain of points when he is on the floor. Yes, his 3-point shot is already the stuff of legend, but his arsenal is hardly limited to launching from the Bay Bridge and all points beyond. His ball-handling has become otherworldly and he torched the Spurs more than once with a dribbling display more often seen by the Globetrotters against the Generals, and finished it off with a soft floater -- one being of the underhand variety from 10 feet out -- that dropped straight in the bucket.
Thank goodness we live in the video age that we do. Because if it wasn't for seeing it, we just might not believe it.

LeBron denies involvement in Blatt firing, 'surprised' by move

Despite general manager David Griffin's protestations, the prevailing perception is that LeBron James calls the shots with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
James' clout, coupled with his tense relationship with his former head coach, led many to believe it was James who orchestrated the rude dismissal of David Blatt.
Speaking for the first time since the firing, however, James called the move unfortunate and said he was "surprised and caught off-guard."
While it's easy to assume James played at least some role in Blatt's firing, the four-time MVP isn't concerned about the rumor mill.
"For me, I can't get caught up and worried about what other people are thinking," James said, as relayed by ESPN. "I stopped doing that a long time ago in my career. ... The only thing I can worry about is how I can get these guys better prepared and we can play better basketball."
James might not care what people think, but it's already out there. When it comes to the Cavaliers, James clearly holds considerable sway within the organization, with some believing he's the ultimate decision-maker.

Kobe Bryant Voted All-Star Starter

EL SEGUNDO – Kobe Bryant was selected by fans as a starter for the 2016 NBA All-Star Game in Toronto it was announced today, his 18th selection (2nd-most all-time) and record-setting 18th consecutive time as an All-Star. LeBron James continued his barrage of the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday, with the four-time MVP still clearly upset after the team's blowout loss to the Golden State Warriors on Monday.
"I think we're a good team," LeBron said to CBSSports' Ken Berger. "But I don't think we're a great team right now. We've got to continue to get better. I really think it's absurd to think about May and June; it's not guaranteed, man."
While Cleveland has done an excellent job against weaker teams, they have struggled with the good ones, posting a combined record of 2-5 against the top three teams in both conferences.
Although the Cavaliers have never struggled to score the ball this season, their play on the other end isn't as strong, particularly of late, sitting 18th in defensive rating (104.2) in January.
"Very ugly to watch," LeBron added. "... Offensively, I don't think we were that bad. Defensively, we were a little behind. … We were a couple of steps behind, and against a team like that, it's like being a couple of steps behind a Patriots team right now. They're gonna make you pay; you can't do that."
At 28-11, the Cavaliers are still in a much better place than they were in 2014-15, when they took the Warriors to six games in the Finals despite starting the year 19-20.
With a home game against the San Antonio Spurs set at the end of the month, LeBron and Co. will be given another opportunity to prove they can hang with the game's elite.

Curry won't sit, but 'annoying' shin injury will take 4 weeks to heal

According to what Golden State Warriors trainers have told Stephen Curry, his bruised left shin will take four weeks to heal completely.
He doesn't plan to sit.
"I'm not going to sit out four weeks," Curry said Tuesday night, according to ESPN's Ethan Sherwood Strauss. "So just got to figure out how to protect it while I'm out on the floor and keep playing. We've done a good amount and just had a couple unlucky plays, and we'll keep addressing it."
Questions came up about the shin after the reigning NBA MVP briefly left the Warriors' 109-88 thumping of the Los Angeles Lakers Tuesday.
Curry departed after bumping his leg against the Lakers' Roy Hibbert. He had it looked at on the bench, then returned to the contest. He was taken out for good with the Dubs up 30 in the fourth quarter. After the game, Curry admitted the injury is irritating, but not something he's overly concerned about.
"It's just frustrating and annoying and any other adjective you want to throw in there," he said. "Long term, it's not something that I'll have to worry about. It's just playing through an injury that's there. It doesn't get worse if I play on it, unless I get kicked, and that's happened three times since I did it."
"It's a magnet," Curry said of his shin. "But I'll be all right."
Curry suffered the original injury in a Dec. 28 win over the Sacramento Kings, and as a result missed consecutive games for the first time since November 2013. He left Saturday's victory against the Denver Nuggets after being hit in the same spot.
"I wasn't going to put him back out there at first, but he was pretty adamant about it," Warriors interim coach Luke Walton said about Curry in Tuesday's game. "I played with a guy like that," added Walton, referring to Kobe Bryant.
In three games since sustaining the injury, Curry is averaging 17.3 points in 24 minutes, on a 40 percent 3-point stroke.

Kobe Bryant will have a great deal of free time on his hands once he retires as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers following the 2015-16 campaign.
Could the "Black Mamba" turn himself into a "Life Coach" for his post-basketball career?
Even if you don't believe in yourself, just take solace in knowing that the five-time NBA champion believes in you:
Okay. Maybe Bryant doesn't believe in you. Maybe he believes in Roy Hibbert.
Which wasn't always the case, by the way:

Jeremy Lin almost didn't survive Kobe Bryant's last trip to Time Warner Cable Arena.
The retiring Los Angeles Laker tried to block the Charlotte Hornets' guard shot, and almost took his spiky-haired head in the process.
Let's take a closer look at Lin on the precipice of death:

No Stephen Curry, no problem.
The Golden State Warriors got back on track following their drubbing at the hands of the Dallas Mavericks with a 114-110 victory over the Houston Rockets on New Year's Eve.
Klay Thompson followed up a miserable 4-of-15 shooting performance Friday with a blistering 38-point performance to counteract James Harden's 30 for the floundering Rockets.
It was clear from the get-go that Thompson and Harden had a score to settle. Thompson proclaimed himself as the league's best shooting guard last week and Harden - who fashions himself as the league's best player - stormed out of the gates with two 3-pointers in the first six minutes.

Harden also goaded Thompson into two quick fouls, but the Splash Brother convinced his head coach to leave him in. Thompson rewarded that decision with four straight baskets as part of a 17-point opening frame.
With Thompson picking up the scoring slack in Curry's absence, Draymond Green assumed the reigning league MVP's role of playmaker. Green racked up 12 assists in the first half before finishing with a career-high 16 as part of a 10-point, 11-rebound triple-double effort in 38 minutes.
Green leads the league with five triple doubles this season.

The game remained close throughout, and the Warriors kept their cool despite missing four rotation players. They beat up on the Rockets' bench behind sixth man Andre Iguodala's hyper-efficient, 20-point outing (on 6-of-7 shooting from the floor). They also did a tremendous job of beating the Rockets on the offensive glass (12-4).
Houston made it a three-point game with five minutes to go after Harden dropped in a short fadeaway, but the Warriors' fourth-ranked defense clamped down and didn't allow another basket until after the game was well out of reach.
The nail in the coffin came courtesy of Harden's notoriously poor defense. Harden pounded the rock for an entire possession only to miss an awkward 21-foot step-back jumper, then failed to track back on defense which allowed Iguodala to push the lead to five after Green tossed a picture-perfect, hit-ahead pass for his 16th assist.

Golden State's victory closes the book on a near-perfect calendar year that includes a championship and a Jordan-esque 72-12 record between two regular seasons.
