According to what Golden State Warriors trainers have told Stephen Curry, his bruised left shin will take four weeks to heal completely.

He doesn't plan to sit.

"I'm not going to sit out four weeks," Curry said Tuesday night, according to ESPN's Ethan Sherwood Strauss. "So just got to figure out how to protect it while I'm out on the floor and keep playing. We've done a good amount and just had a couple unlucky plays, and we'll keep addressing it."

Questions came up about the shin after the reigning NBA MVP briefly left the Warriors' 109-88 thumping of the Los Angeles Lakers Tuesday.

Curry departed after bumping his leg against the Lakers' Roy Hibbert. He had it looked at on the bench, then returned to the contest. He was taken out for good with the Dubs up 30 in the fourth quarter. After the game, Curry admitted the injury is irritating, but not something he's overly concerned about.

"It's just frustrating and annoying and any other adjective you want to throw in there," he said. "Long term, it's not something that I'll have to worry about. It's just playing through an injury that's there. It doesn't get worse if I play on it, unless I get kicked, and that's happened three times since I did it."

"It's a magnet," Curry said of his shin. "But I'll be all right."

Curry suffered the original injury in a Dec. 28 win over the Sacramento Kings, and as a result missed consecutive games for the first time since November 2013. He left Saturday's victory against the Denver Nuggets after being hit in the same spot.

"I wasn't going to put him back out there at first, but he was pretty adamant about it," Warriors interim coach Luke Walton said about Curry in Tuesday's game. "I played with a guy like that," added Walton, referring to Kobe Bryant.

In three games since sustaining the injury, Curry is averaging 17.3 points in 24 minutes, on a 40 percent 3-point stroke.

The Milwaukee Bucks have done the impossible.

Behind a 28-point outing from center Greg Monroe, the Bucks handed the road-weary Golden State Warriors their first loss of the season, dropping the defending champions 108-95 at the BMO Harris Bradley Center on Saturday.

The Warriors are now 24-1.

Just as they did on Friday, the Warriors looked noticeably disjointed throughout Saturday's contest. They immediately conceded a 12-point deficit in the first quarter, and they repeatedly lagged in transition against the young Bucks.

Golden State eventually closed the gap, but the reigning champions simply looked off. Case in point: The league's most accurate team shot worse from deep than the league's worst 3-point shooting team (6-of-26 against 6-of-14).

Draymond Green fired up airballs. Stephen Curry repeatedly hit front iron. Andre Iguodala passed up wide open looks. Even Klay Thompson, who returned and was well-rested after missing a game due to a sprained ankle, clanked all but four of his 14 attempts.

Context does matter here. The reigning champions had played a thoroughly exhausting double-overtime contest against the Boston Celtics the night before, and didn't land in Wisconsin until 3:30 a.m. Golden State had also played six straight road games, and were trying to become the first team in NBA history to go undefeated on a seven-game trip.

But the bottom line is that they lost, and credit goes to the Bucks, who played a nearly perfect game while also on the second night of a back-to-back.

To beat the Warriors' hydra, they needed a Herculean effort to cut off the head of the snake. Buck guards Michael Carter-Williams and O.J. Mayo smothered Curry, and used their length to disrupt his rhythm. Milwaukee's rangy bigs also did a dutiful job of providing help, and picking the right spots to help.

Curry scored 28 points on 2-of-8 shooting from deep. He did most of his damage at the basket, but that was probably preferable to letting him catch fire from deep.

The Bucks held the Warriors 5/32 shooting (16%) on jump shots in the half court including 1/15 of pull ups to snap their historic streak.

Offensively, the Bucks relied on a relentless diet of drives and post-ups. They had the size advantage at almost every position, and used it effectively. The 6-foot-7 Carter-Williams repeatedly scored over the diminutive Curry, and Monroe was an unstoppable force on the low block. Tack on a steady slew of transition finishes from Giannis Antetokounmpo - who earned his first career triple-double - and Jabari Parker, and the Bucks' ordinarily dormant offense overpowered the backpedaling Warriors.

As tired as they were, Golden State did make a final push. After falling down by 13 with six minutes remaining, the Warriors turned to their trusty small-ball lineup. However, with Curry's prayers going unanswered, downsizing only exacerbated their problems.

Monroe reeled off 11 points in the fourth quarter as he was met with minimal resistance in the paint. Carter-Williams went on to punctuate the victory with an emphatic slam which brought the ecstatic home crowd to its feet. During their record start, they made a 23-point comeback, survived two overtime battles, fought the Toronto Raptors to the wire twice, and generally took everyone's best punch. They withstood it all, but the run looked to have taken its toll on the players both mentally and physically. As Green explained after the game, the Warriors can finally have something resembling normalcy.

As for the Bucks, the sleepy northern franchise renewed their status as giant killers. Saturday's win was the sixth time in franchise history that the Bucks have snapped a team's run of at least 12 wins - including ending the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers' untouchable 33-game winning streak.

But there's also a silver lining for the Warriors: The previous five victims of Milwaukee's upsets have all gone on to win the championship. That's a trade-off the Warriors would almost assuredly accept.

A few years ago, I was sitting in the waiting room of a doctor’s office with Stephen Curry. He had battled one injury after another and we didn’t know if his ankle would ever get better. I remember thinking to myself, “This isn’t how it’s supposed to be. This can’t be his life story. This can’t be it.” Steph is one of the best people—not just players—I’ve ever been around and I just remember feeling devastated that he wasn’t going to get a chance to reach his potential.

It’s easy to look at Steph now and see a player who has it all, but that wasn’t always the case. He was doubted so much coming into the league. He slid to No. 7 during the 2009 draft and it’s been pretty well documented that we weren’t his first choice. He went through three head coaches in his first three years, all of which were losing seasons. He got hurt, people wrote him off. They said he couldn’t play point guard. They said he couldn’t defend. They said he’d never lead a team to the playoffs.

He proved them all wrong.

Right after we won the NBA championship in June, Steph and I had a moment in the locker room. There weren’t really words exchanged as much as emotions. My recollection of the night was that we had basically reached the mountaintop. There’s nothing higher than winning a title in pro sports. There’s nowhere else to go. I looked around the room and saw the happiest group of people I’ve ever seen. Everyone was going crazy. But when I looked at Steph, I had a moment of reflection. It kind of hit me what he had gone through. To prove all of those people wrong, to overcome such long odds, it was just incredible to see him achieve his dreams. I looked at him and said, “You deserve this.” In life, if you work hard enough, you do get what you deserve. I had a flashback to that doctor’s office and thought about how far Steph had come. It was such a gratifying moment.

People are well aware by now of Steph’s accolades on the basketball court. He’s arguably the best player in the world. He’s the reigning MVP and an NBA champion. But what people don’t know is his character, integrity and authenticity are also world class. Combine all of his traits and you have a person that is elite in every way. Everything he does is with the highest character. He’s a great husband, father, son, brother, friend and teammate. He’s a joy to be around. He has a daughter the same age as mine and I’ve gotten to see how he approaches fatherhood and how he treats his wife. It’s beyond imaginable. I’ve learned so much from him. He’s the guy you hope your daughter marries.

Ask anyone in our organization and you’ll universally get a positive response. He treats everyone with respect. In his MVP speech last spring, he made a point to mention our security guards and equipment managers by name. There’s nothing arrogant about him. He’s confident, but not cocky. He works extremely hard when no one is watching. What you hope for in an organization is someone who represents your group in the most humane way possible. The Warriors could not have picked a better candidate—or for that matter the entire NBA. I represented players as an agent for 14 years and I know a lot about players in this league. I’ve never come across one like Steph.

Most of the time when you meet a famous person you’re disappointed, because they didn’t live up to the image you’d created in your head. Sometimes you meet a famous person that does meet your expectations and you say, “Wow, they really are great.” And sometimes, on the most rare of occasions, you meet someone who exceeds every expectation imaginable. Steph is that guy. He’s the rarest breed. You hear all these great things about him and not only are they true, but there’s even more the public will never know.

The most impressive thing about Steph’s basketball career is he’s gotten better every year. It’s probably true over his entire life. I don’t think he’s ever not improved from one season to the next. That’s pretty tough to do when you win MVP and lead a team to 67 wins and an NBA title—but just look at what he’s doing this season. He’s taken his game to heights that we couldn’t have even imagined.

I’m fortunate enough to get to see Steph work on his craft behind the scenes. If you were to watch him train you would understand how he does these insane things when everyone is watching. If we all worked with the same focus and efficiency he approaches the game with, we’d all be incredibly accomplished people. He hones his shot every day and he’s already the best shooter in the world. When I watch him drain a 30-footer off the dribble, I’m never surprised. You don’t see all the work he puts into that shot, that exact situation. He’s practiced everything.

Not only was Steph the most dominant basketball player on the planet in 2015, but he also helped change the game. It’s no longer unusual to take 10 or 11 three-pointers in a game because he pioneered a new way of thinking. He’s partially responsible for the way the perimeter game has been turned into a weapon in the NBA. He exploited a rule that a lot of people knew was there but had yet to master. He’s made the three-point line his and is executing with astonishing efficiency. To lead a team like he did last year and evolve the game along the way, it’s something people are going to remember for a very long time. Every championship gets its proper due, but some stand out a little more than others. I think this one might be the exception.

To see Steph preserve, succeed and reach his potential has been a tremendous experience. It’s why we love sports. It’s why Stephen Curry should be SI’s 2015 Sportsman of the Year.

With both Stephen Curry and Lionel Messi at the top of their games in their respective sports, the comparisons between the two are inevitable.

 When the Golden State Warriors point guard was asked whether he was the Messi of the NBA, or whether the Barcelona star was the Curry of the pitch, the reigning league MVP played a little coy.

 Whether Plumlee repays him or not, Butler got the last laugh Tuesday night by scoring a game-high 22 points in the Bulls' 93-88 win. And with a freshly inked five-year, $95 million contract paying Butler more than $15 million annually, per Spotrac, the $2,500 fine shouldn't make a particularly big dent in his checking account.

The Golden State Warriors made NBA history Tuesday night by winning their 16th straight game to start the season, blasting the Los Angeles Lakers, 111-77, at Oracle Arena.

 With the league's most efficient offense matched up against the third-worst defense, the Warriors imposed their will from start to finish in a showcase of solid shooting, pinpoint passing and seamless execution.

 The defending champions shot 48.9 percent from the field and 34.3 percent from three, but their most impressive statistical achievement came in the form of 32 assists on 45 made baskets. By comparison, the Lakers assisted 16 times on 31 converted field goals.

Even though Stephen Curry (24 points, nine assists) couldn't find a particularly strong rhythm in catch-and-shoot situations, the Warriors overcame his shaky stroke thanks to a collective performance led by multi-positional wizard Draymond Green, who finished with 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

 Curry shot 10-of-21 from the field and 4-of-12 from three on the historic night, but supplementary contributions from Harrison Barnes (eight points), Andrew Bogut (eight points, seven rebounds), Festus Ezeli (nine points, seven rebounds), Leandro Barbosa (13 points) and Klay Thompson (11 points) helped Golden State maintain its offensive equilibrium.

Kobe Bryant has never lacked confidence.

With the Los Angeles Lakers about to face the undefeated Golden State Warriors on Tuesday, Bryant told reporters on Sunday that he believes in his team.

Realistically, the Lakers probably don't have a shot at beating the Warriors. Golden State has won 15 straight games to start the season, tying an NBA record in the process and looking like an unstoppable juggernaut. The Lakers, on the other hand, have lost three straight games and are currently the worst team in the Western conference. They've also relied on an aging Bryant way too much.

Of course, Bryant shouldn't be saying that the Lakers will get steamrolled by the Warriors. Confidence is definitely needed against the Warriors and if the Lakers can draw some inspiration from Bryant so be it. However, even head coach Byron Scott is more realistic about the Lakers' chances against the Warriors.

 The Golden State Warriors defeated the Chicago Bulls 106-94 on Friday, becoming the fourth team in NBA history to start a regular season with a 14-0 record.

 The Warriors joined the 1957-58 Boston Celtics, 1993-94 Houston Rockets, and 2002-03 Dallas Mavericks as the only NBA teams to come out of the gates with 14 wins and zero losses.

The contest featured several first-half lead changes, with the Warriors leading 50-47 at the break.

 The Bulls failed to outscore their opponents in either of the second-half stanzas, as the Warriors pulled away for good late in the fourth.

 One day after the Warriors almost lost to the Los Angeles Clippers, the Bulls appeared to have a good opportunity to upend the defending champs.

 Chicago beat Golden State on Jan. 27, a loss which snapped the Warriors' 19-game home winning streak.

 Friday's game nearly came down to the wire, but an upset was not in the cards.

 Next up with a chance to stop the Warriors in their tracks are the Denver Nuggets, as the Western Conference foes are set to clash Sunday.

 The Detroit Pistons' Brandon Jennings took part in full-court practice Wednesday for the first time since rupturing his left Achilles tendon in January.

 Jennings ran 10-minute, 4-on-4 drills and remains on track for a December return to game action, coach Stan Van Gundy told reporters. The timetable for the 26-year-old has more or less held firm to estimates, as he's been building back strength in his leg.

 With the one-time lead guard on the shelf, Reggie Jackson has ensconced himself as the starting point, averaging 20.6 points and 5.6 assists this season. The pair have yet to play together as Jackson was acquired after Jennings went down last season.

Record: 4-0 With victories over the Pistons, Grizzlies, Timberwolves and Nets, the Warriors put together their third consecutive undefeated week and now sit as the 11th team in NBA history to begin a season with an 11-0 record. They’re also the fourth defending champion to begin a season 11-0, and of those previous three, only one team did not repeat as champions. That team was the 1957-58 Boston Celtics who, after losing in the Finals in six games, won the title the next eight years in a row. So, while it’s still far too early to even begin talking about a repeat, this torrid start has placed the Warriors in some very select company.

 As perfect as the 11-0 record looks on paper, the Dubs had some not-so-great mixed in with the good this past week. In each of the eventual victories over Detroit, Memphis and Minnesota, Golden State had leads of 17, 15 and 21 points, respectively, before allowing the opposition to cut the deficit to five or fewer points. And, if it weren’t for Andre Iguodala’s clutch three-pointer that sent Saturday’s eventual overtime victory into the extra period, chances are they’d still be looking for that 11th win. But, that shot did go in, and even after allowing those teams back into the game, the Dubs managed to stave off their momentum and get back on track. The fact that I’m nitpicking at these instances just goes to show how comprehensively dominant the Warriors have been over the course of the season thus far. Andrew Bogut, Klay Thompson and Leandro Barbosa have missed a combined total of nine games due to injury or absence, and despite a few hiccups here and there, the Warriors’ performance has been more or less unaffected. The fact that all of the aforementioned players are either already back to full health or anticipated to be so in the near future bodes well for the Dubs’ chances of continuing this strong start into the fourth week of the season.

As thoroughly spectacular as Stephen Curry has been in almost every single game thus far, Draymond Green has been playing at an increasingly high level that, once again, cannot go unnoticed. In the four victories last week, Green averaged 13.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and a remarkable 9.3 assists per game. This is a power forward we’re talking about here, and Green continues to redefine the contemporary expectations of the position. On the season, his per game averages rank fourth on the team in scoring (12.3), second in rebounding (7.9), first in assists (7.1), third in three-pointers made (1.6) and second in three-point percentage (41.9%). To put those numbers in perspective, there has never been a player in NBA history to average at least 12.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 1.6 three-pointers made over the course of a full season.

 He recorded the second triple-double of his regular season career in Saturday’s victory, and the 12 assists he accumulated in that game made him the first Warriors’ starting forward to have back-to-back games with 12 assists since Rick Barry in 1976. He’s up to 78 dimes on the season, which ranks him ninth in the NBA in assists per game and easily first among all non-guards. In fact, of the top 30 players in the league in assists per game, only one other plays a position other than guard (LeBron James, 6.4 apg). As Curry continues to give opposing teams no choice but to double team him, that intrinsically creates a 4-on-3 opportunity for the rest of the Warriors within a half-court set, which clearly, Green has proven incredibly efficient at exploiting. With the threats Curry poses on the perimeter and Green poses on the interior, it places opposing teams in a pick-your-poison scenario, and as evidenced by the Warriors’ current 11-0 record, nobody has been able to figure it out quite yet.

Stephen Curry sure has that timing thing down. With the game on the verge of getting away from the Warriors, the reigning MVP took things over and led the Dubs to a 100-84 victory on Wednesday night in Memphis.
